Whoa, so you looked at your travel itinerary and realized that you have over eight hours of travel time! What will you do with all that travel time??? Well, here are 8 ways to keep you entertained on your long travels.
1. Write!
You can jot down your thoughts before your trip in your journal or the notes section in your phone. Also, if you want to be productive then plan your future goals. Depending on the length of your trip, you may be able to act on them.
2. Move!
Get up and walk around, not only does this help you physically but also mentally. Intermittently stretch your body to help prevent travel-related complications, such as blood clots. Click this link to find 6 ways to help prevent blood clots.
3. Watch!
Watch a movie or let the movie watch you, there is nothing wrong with taking a nap or three. Make sure you download your favorite movies and music on your devices before your trip. Access to WIFI may be limited or non-existent and there is nothing worse than getting interrupted during the best scene.
4. Listen!
Listen to your favorite songs or podcast and do not forget your headphones. Listening to music was my favorite form of entertainment during my travel experience with Amtrak’s auto train. Check out my Amtrak experience here.
5. Play a Game!
Fill out a crossword puzzle, play a round of solitaire and if you are like one of my travel companions then I know that Candy Crush is waiting for you.
6. Eat!
I love bringing a variety of snacks ranging from almonds to my favorite mini cookies. Not sure about you, but munching on things will keep me entertained, insert food dance here, LOL.
7. Talk!
Talk to your neighbor. Not only are you utilizing your social skills, but you may learn about a few things to add to your travel itinerary.
8. Read!
I usually bring a book, my kindle, and do not forget about magazines. As a last resort, airplane magazines will make the cut.
If your attention span is as short as mine, then bring different sources of entertainment. Make sure to bring a portable charger to charge your devices, in case there is not an option for you. So, the next time that you’re on a plane, bus, train or whatever you are using to get to your next destination. Try one of my 8 ways to keep you entertained on long travels.
Have you used any of these methods during your long travels?
